​Federal Lawsuit

On August 31, 2016, we (Shirley Curd and David Brennan) filed a $42,000,000 federal lawsuit against the City of Searcy for the seizure/taking of their property without due process of law, for unlawfully arresting them on trumped-up fine-only charges, for selective enforcement of the property maintenance ordinance, for unlawfully searching their private property for evidence of code violations, and for violating their own public policy by restricting our property to a single, non-profitable use thereby ensuring its continued decline and blighting.  We did not immediately make public the fact that we had filed the lawsuit, because we wanted to give the city time to do right by us and offer a settlement.  Unfortunately, it appears the city machine is too arrogant to believe they could ever be held accountable for anything they do.  Therefore, we are now making the lawsuit availablehere.
